The School of Medicine (SOM) recently invited Dr. Julius Wilder to speak during its Diversity Month celebration in April. During the interview, Dr. Wilder discussed his research on colon cancer, which has shown a significant decrease in deaths overall but remains disproportionately prevalent in communities of color. As a medical sociologist and chair of the equity, diversity, and inclusion and anti-racism committee at the SOM, he emphasized the issue of health disparities.
