The National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) founding director Lonnie G. Bunch III spoke in a panel discussion at Duke School of Law, joined by Dr. Trina Jones (Law), and Dr. Thavolia Glymph (History). Dr. Bunch tells the story of the creation of the museum in his new book “A Fool's Errand: Creating the National Museum of African American History and Culture in the Age of Bush, Obama, and Trump.” At Duke, he shared the philosophies that guided his vision for the museum including inspiration he received from celebrated Duke historian Dr. John Hope Franklin who was Chair of the museum’s advisory committee.
