Dr. Samuel DuBois Cook and His Vision of Excellence

Dr. Samuel DuBois Cook, the first African American faculty member advised, "Have a vision of excellence, dream of success, and work like hell." Living by his words, he has held national roles under Presidents Carter and Clinton, and Duke has honored him with the Samuel DuBois Cook Society and the Samuel DuBois Cook Center on Social Equity.
