A committee co-chaired by Professor Charmaine Royal (AAAS) released a report recommending that genetics researchers tailor their use of population descriptors to their research questions and generally avoid using "race" as a descriptor in genetics research. Professor Trina Jones (Law), has been elected as the new chair of the Duke University Academic Council, the chief instrument of faculty governance, for a two-year term starting July 1.
